Photographing puffins

Photographing puffins

Some time ago, the OhVibe Creative Collective embarked on a trip to the Saltee Islands in the Republic of Ireland, known for their vibrant puffin population. Starting early from Belfast, Northern Ireland, we faced a 4-hour journey each way. Upon arrival, we boarded a boat to reach the island. Since there is no marina, we transferred to a pontoon near the shore, wading through shallow water to finally set foot on the island.

Once there, we found puffins remarkably close to our landing point. We enjoyed a wonderful 4-hour window to photograph these incredible birds, all under favorable weather conditions. The rain graciously held off until our return journey.

Was the trip worth it? Absolutely—100%! We’re already planning a return visit in May 2025, aiming to capture even more stunning images of these beautiful creatures.
